Parida pockets Bhubaneswar Open chess title

Manas Ranjan Parida justified his top billing when he emerged champion in the 26th Bhubaneswar Open Chess Tournament at Secretariat Recreation Club here today. He scored 7.5 points from eight rounds to take home the top prize of Rs 5,000. Bibhuti Bhusam Mohanty finished runner-up with seven points.

Dr Srikant Rath, Dean, School of Language, KIIT University, handed over the trophy and prizes at the closing function. Host Bhubaneswar Chess Association secretary Arati Bijoy Mohanty and chief arbiter Debasis Panigrahi were present on the occasion.
